Improving Carlington Community – Removal of Building at 1083 Merivale Road

Shepherds of Good Hope is excited to announce the vacant building located in front of our Supportive Housing residence at 1095 Merivale Road will soon be removed.

The building has been boarded and fenced off since SGH purchased the property, as it was deemed unsafe to use and beyond repair. Removal of the building will enhance the neighbourhood.

Next Steps.

Over the coming days and weeks, construction crews will be on site to safely remove the building. The site will be filled and remain vacant At the same time, construction of a retaining wall in the rear of the property will stabilize shifting ground at the neighbouring property, 1095 Merivale Road.

What’s Next for 1083 Merivale Road?

Shepherds of Good Hope does not currently have funding to build on this site.

In the future, Shepherds has hopes to build a mixed-used building, which could see space for housing, Shepherds of Good Hope administrative offices, as well as local community needs.

There will be continuing conversations with the City of Ottawa, service partners, and local community organizations as these plans evolve.

Thank you to the Carlington Community.

Shepherds of Good Hope has been part of the Carlington Community since 2010. The section of Merivale Road running through the community has seen several upgrades over the past few years.

Removal of the building at 1083 Merivale Road will add to the curb appeal of this vibrant and diverse community.
