Postal Strike Won’t Stop HOPE – You Can Double Your Impact by October 31
Every day, more people in our community turn to Shepherds of Good Hope for hot meals, safe shelter, and compassion.
With colder weather ahead, the need increases.
This is also when Shepherds’ generous donors literally step up to the plate – to use an October baseball term.
Canada Post has created a new and urgent challenge: removing a vital pipeline of generosity for our donors.
Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers have not reached an agreement, resulting in a nationwide strike. This means we can’t share our usual stories of hope mail, and more concerning, it means donations sent by mail could be delayed for weeks – right when our guests and residents need it most.
Every day of delay puts people and our life-saving programs at risk.
But there is hope and an opportunity to make an even greater impact. Thanks to the generosity of Keller Engineering, every donation made online or by phone before October 31 will be matched dollar for dollar (up to a total of $10,000). That means your gift will go twice as far, providing double the meals, double the shelter beds, and double the comfort of community to those who need it most.
Here’s how you can help right away:
- Online: Make a secure, matched donation now at Krystal’s Story. This is the fastest and most reliable way to ensure your support has an immediate impact.
- By Phone: Call us at 613-789-8210, and our team will gladly assist you.
- By Mail: You can still send your donation by mail, but please expect delays in processing and receiving your tax receipt. And remember, gifts must arrive before October 31 to be matched.
If you’ve already sent a gift by mail, thank you. We will process it as soon as it arrives. However, if you are able, please consider making an online or phone donation to ensure your support reaches us in time to be doubled.
Please don’t wait, lives depend on it.
With gratitude,
