Hari – KINDNESS in Plain Sight
A donor and volunteer at Shepherds of Good Hope for seventeen years, Hari brings his smiling face and warm heart to everything he does.
“People see Shepherds as just serving food,” says Hari. “Shepherds does much, much deeper than that.”
Over the past four years, the Ottawa Friends Circle, a group to which Hari belongs, has raised more than $60,000 in support of Shepherds of Good Hope.
With the money his group raises, Hari goes shopping for groceries for the Shepherds kitchen. Once the groceries are bought, Hari doesn’t stop there; he goes to the kitchen and helps prepare meals for the community.
Raising money, buying food, cooking food, and serving food to feed our community, and Hari’s soul.
“Honestly, this gives me the internal satisfaction I will never get from anywhere else,” he says.
Hari used to come to the kitchen once a month, but for the last year or so, he volunteers every second and fourth Thursday.
“And actually, very soon, I’m going to go more often than this. It’s a great place to be for sure.”
