Richcraft Hope Centre
A New Place to Call Home
Richcraft Hope Centre opened at 216 Murray Street on May 12, 2025. Located next to Shepherds of Good Hope’s emergency shelter, this new build provides supportive housing for 48 people experiencing homelessness. Half of the bachelor style apartments on the top six floors of the building is reserved for Indigenous women and others.
Shepherds New Community Kitchen on Ground Floor.
Located in the heart of Ottawa’s Lowertown community and next to the ByWard Market, Richcraft Hope Centre is the new home of Shepherds’ community kitchen.
This kitchen replaces the old community kitchen at 233 Murray Street and includes state-of-the-art commercial kitchen appliances, increased prep space, and a new food serving area designed to enhance the guest experience while creating an inviting and ergonomic work area for Shepherds volunteers and staff.
The new kitchen will not only provide up to 650 meals per day for the walk-in community, but it also prepares meals for the 48 residents living above.
Shepherds’ chefs and volunteers also plan and prepare meals destined for other Shepherds supportive housing residences in Kanata, on Merivale Road, and in the east end on Montreal Road.
Drop-in Program and Outdoor Space.
The drop-in program operates up to sixteen hours per day, seven days a week, providing housing focused social supports for people who are precariously housed in Lowertown.
The outdoor space provides a gathering spot, welcoming people throughout the day.
Residents on the top six floors will also have access to life skills and social activities all designed to provide engagement, community and real sense of home.
Richcraft Hope Centre is named in honour of Ottawa’s Singhal family, owners of Richcraft Homes.
