Hope in Plain Sight

Hope in Plain Sight

Since 1983, Shepherds of Good Hope has been supporting people experiencing homelessness.

The needs of those we support have changed drastically over the past forty years.

The toxic drug crisis, an increase in the number of people experiencing trauma, substance use and mental health challenges, a global pandemic, and other factors create an environment in which Shepherds of Good Hope must adapt to save lives.

Shepherds of Good Hope is known by the community and the people who use its services as a 240-bed emergency shelter and a 16 -hour per day drop -in and community kitchen.

But what about people changing lives every hour of every day, outside of the public eye?

They are… HOPE IN PLAIN SIGHT.

Behind the doors at Shepherds of Good Hope, employees, volunteers, donors and partners are working closely and quietly together. Their efforts are not always seen and not always heard.

Hope in Plain Sight brings five of those people from the shadows into the light.

These are the stories of Neola, Jennifer, Lynda, Hari, and Beni.

They are connected by five simple words; Community, Care, Support, Kindness, and Connection.

They are Hope in Plain Sight.
